Why we support quiet leadership in Jersey
In a world that often celebrates volume over value, Standard Bank Offshore is proud to stand behind something quieter, something more powerful.
Leadership that changes lives seldom seeks the spotlight. It works behind the scenes, in homes and hospitals, on community projects and care teams – led by individuals whose courage lies not in commanding attention, but in consistently showing up for others.
This is the kind of leadership we recognise through our sponsorship of the Inspirational Leader of the Year category at the Pride of Jersey Awards.
“The Pride of Jersey Awards offer a meaningful opportunity to honour those who lead out of a genuine commitment to others,” says Charles Molteno, Chief Executive and Island Head for Standard Bank Jersey. “It’s a privilege to support an initiative that mirrors the values we hold as a business and as people – integrity, compassion, and a desire to build a better tomorrow.”
A community worth celebrating
Standard Bank Offshore has deep roots in Jersey. We’re more than a financial institution – we’re part of the fabric of this island. And we know that it’s the people who make it what it is.
People who don’t always get headlines, but who give generously of their time, energy and care.
The Pride of Jersey Awards shines a light on these individuals, whether they’re helping young people find direction, supporting mental health initiatives, or quietly stepping up when their community needs them most.
These are the stories that matter.
A standout story of strength
Last year’s winner of the Inspirational Leader of the Year was Dr Kirstie Ross, an Emergency Department doctor who continued to serve her community despite facing serious health challenges of her own.
“Her story was deeply humbling,” says Charles. “It showed us that leadership isn’t about title or recognition – it’s about resilience, empathy, and service. It was an honour to be part of acknowledging that.”
Looking ahead
As we prepare for this year’s awards, we’re reflecting on what true inspiration looks like. It may be a parent advocating for inclusive education, a young person mentoring others, or someone who has turned personal adversity into a source of strength for their community.
“We’ll be looking for those who lead with heart and humility,” says Charles. “Those who take action quietly but powerfully, leaving a lasting impact on the lives around them.”
Why it matters
Supporting the Pride of Jersey Awards isn’t just about sponsorship. It’s about connection. It’s about recognising the values we all share as islanders: community, care, and commitment.
At Standard Bank Offshore, we are committed to long-term, meaningful partnerships – with our clients, our colleagues, and our community. Being part of this initiative is a small but significant way of showing that commitment in action.
Because sometimes the most iconic leadership isn’t loud – it’s simply there, where and when it’s needed most.
