Standard Bank bolsters Jersey Fiduciary Services team

Standard Bank has strengthened its fiduciary services team with two senior appointments that further entrench our position as a leading provider of corporate and family wealth management services.

Michael Giraud has been appointed as the new Head of Standard Bank Offshore Trust Company Jersey Limited, while Chadwick Phillips joins as Business Development Manager and Trust Specialist looking after South Africa and the Channel Islands.

"I’m really pleased to welcome Michael and Chad to our Jersey Fiduciary Services team,” says Will Thorp, CEO of Standard Bank Jersey. "Michael’s leadership experience and expertise alongside Chad’s skills will be fine additions to, and catalysts for, our fiduciary service offerings."

The new head of Standard Bank Offshore Trust Company Jersey was previously a director and shareholder of a multi-jurisdictional trust and family office business. He specialises in setting up and administering of complex and bespoke offshore fiduciary structures for high-net-worth international families.

“I’m delighted to be joining Standard Bank and leading a team of highly qualified and experienced trust professionals.  Our trust offering is truly unique for a bank owned trust company and it is very similar to an independent trust company model.  It’s exciting to be working for such a global corporate name and developing the services on offer,” he said.

Michael is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.

New business development manager Chadwick Phillips is based in Jersey and will be working closely with the group’s stakeholders and intermediaries to unlock opportunities in South Africa and the UK.

Educated in South Africa, he joined the South African Parachute Regiment before commencing his studies and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Builders and Civil Engineers and a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.

He has specific experience working with a varied selection of clients and their advisors to identify and establish the most appropriate offshore structures. Industries in which he has particular experience include the exploration of oil and gas, hotels, residential, commercial and mixed-use property, care homes and investment portfolios.
