The new year has gotten off to an auspicious start for Michael Giraud, Head of Standard Bank’s Fiduciary Services in Jersey, who has attained two notable professional commendations.

The first of these is being named in the 2022 Global Elite directory, a prestigious list of the world’s leaders in the Trust and Fiduciary industry as voted by their peers. Michael made the shortlist of 250 from more than 6,000 nominations worldwide.

“I am truly humbled and absolutely delighted to be named on the list,” Michael said. “I wish to thank everyone who elected to include my name on this list filled which is filled with so many industry luminaries.”

The Private Client Global Elite Directory recognises the key role that referrals and recommendations play in the private client sector. The organisers say that being an excellent technical practitioner is not enough, and that advisors need to be masters of communication and a good personality fit to build lasting client relationships.

His second professional endorsement from industry peers is being voted to the STEP Special Interest Group Committee for International Clients.

STEP is a global professional body, comprising lawyers, accountants, trustees and other practitioners that help families plan for their futures. Full STEP members are internationally recognised experts in their field, with proven qualifications and experience.

He joined Standard Bank Offshore Trust Company Jersey Limited, in 2021 and specialises in the establishment of estate and succession planning structures for African-connected families. Michael and his team also work with UK, North America, Middle East and European connected families.

Standard Bank’s International Fiduciary Services team works closely with international advisors in relation to the establishment and administration of complex and bespoke fiduciary structures holding a wide variety of assets, including private company shares, directly held private equity and commercial and residential property.  The team embraces a whole of market philosophy when investing and banking assets.
